Let's clear up some confusion. Ozempic is a brand, not a drug. The main ingredient in Ozempic is called Semaglutide. Currently there are two main weight management ingredients - Semaglutide & Tirzepatide. Below I've outlined some basic differences.

Tirzepatide (known as Mounjaro & Zepbound)

  • is a dual agonist, both GLP-1 and a GIP.

  • little more expensive.

  • once-weekly injection, typically.

  •  in general, fewer side effects.

Semaglutide (known as Ozempic & Wegovy)

  • is a single agonist, GLP-1.

  • generally cheaper.

  • once-weekly injection, typically.

  • in some, more pronounced side effects.
